The most complex doll I had seen when I was little, or at least remember seeing, was the Pregnant Barbie doll. This Barbie doll quickly halted in production because many parents believed the doll set a bad example for young children. The Pregnant Barbie exposed young children to the abilities of a woman that a child had never learned of and should not be taught when playing with her Barbie at preschool.
But a new doll has come out, and this doll could possibly be worse than the Pregnant Barbie.
Its called the Breast Milk Baby.
Like the Pregnant Barbie, The Breast Milk Baby is viewed as “sending the message that it’s OK to become pregnant at a young age.” In my opinion, I would not want my future child to own this doll because this doll exposes the word of feminism to a young child at too early of an age. If the Pregnant Barbie was disliked years ago, the Breast Milk Baby has taken the doll a little too far.
Dolls are supposed to be what a little girl loves to carry around with her everywhere she goes. To have tea parties with and show to all her friends. But now a little girl is going to be walking around with a breastfeeding baby like it is the most normal thing in the world.
But its not.
I agree with Dave when he quotes, “this ‘toy’ exposes the girl to emotional and physical information at an age when they aren’t yet ready to process the complexities involved.” A doll should not be looked at as a teaching skill for the future motherhood, but as a simple toy that a little girl can carry everywhere she goes and play with it in her childhood.
I still have one of my dolls that I used to play tea party with. And my doll does not go to the bathroom or do any cool things like dolls do now. Just an ordinary American Girl doll.
But for the doll manufacturing business to release a Breast Milk Baby, who knows what the world is coming to for children. Personally, I would give my future child a typical Barbie like I had and that is what she will carry around.
