Voting in Georgia

On Tuesday, Georgia will decide who they want to become our next president. Voters will be lining up to cast their decisions. Voting is a privilege that comes with our freedom. With this years election heating up, many Georgians are eager to cast their ballot. Their are many regions in Georgia with strong political sides, so the outcome will be interesting. With the diverse views on presidency between Obama and Romney, many young adults are putting in their votes as well. However, is 18 old enough for the voting age? Many of the voters who are 18-20 years old do not have enough information on the election to make a valid decision. A large amount of these young adults' voting decision is impacted by their parents. There are few 18 year olds who have a strong enough opinion to vote differently than their parents. Voting is a very important part of having freedom in this country. It gives us the chance to make an impact in our government. Yet, teenagers are not always ready to make a decision this big, considering few know anything about our government. At Johns Creek High School, there is a large population if students who favor Romney. This is not because they know anything about him, but simply because they are told by their parents that he is the better candidate due to the wealth in the area of the school. So, why is it that we allow the 18 year old students to have a voice in the election? Regardless, the election coming up will show us all the impact a we can make in our country's government, and will hopefully let well-informed young adults have a voice, too.
