Your opinion or theirs?
Something happened this week that caused many problems throughout the nation, oh yeah it was the Presidential Election of 2012. I'm sure everyone has heard many different opinions from many different people all over the nation whether they were pro-Romney, pro-Obama, or they don't even care at all. I have heard many complaints and very strong opinions towards the election during school, and I can't help but wonder whose opinion those people are really expressing. Sure everyone says that they know what's going on in the political world but I can guarantee there is only a few teenagers in our school who actually pay attention to politics. But where do their opinions come from, they don't just form these on their own do they? No, the most obvious place the develope their opinions from is straight from their home, from their parents. I can honestly say that I have my opinions about the election and of course I'm going to share them; I want to pretend like I know what's going on in the country like everyone else does. I'm not ashamed to say that my opinions are not my own, they're my parents; word for word what my parents have told me has formed my opinion about the election along with the rest of the teenagers at Johns Creek High School. Sure some of the students watched the debate on TV every night, and then there are others who asked their parents what happened then went to school the next day expressing their hate for Romney or Obama. What I am getting at is that it's annoying to always hear these peoples opinions when they're not even their own; I have to constantly hear about how Megan hates Obama because of his arrogant manner or why Molly hates Romney because of constant need to please the rich people. Those opinions are not their own and I definitely know that. I know that because I say the exact same things. I'm pro-Romney and you know why I am? Because my parents are pro-Romney and hate Obama. I follow in my parents footsteps and I will probably be a Republican forever because my parents raised me that way and maybe I will grow up with completely different prefrences. You never know until you actually pay attention and learn to form an opinion all on your own. In the conclusion of this blog, I would like to express the idea of being original, don't agree with something because you're parents said it was smart. Form your own opinions and don't rely on the decisions by your parents to decide what your future will consist of.
