Your Future in the Stars?

Do you read your horoscope in the newspaper on online all the time? Horoscopes are a prediction of a person’s character or future based on their zodiac sign (which is determined by birthday) as well as the alignment of the stars and planets. There are 13 zodiac signs representing 13 constellations with certain dates allocated to each sign. Horoscopes can supposedly predict everything from whom your true love is and when you should get married to business trends and future opportunities. Some people take these horoscopes very seriously, even going so far as changing their daily schedule or habits to fit their horoscope. To others, horoscopes are just fanciful stories that can temporarily entertain them for a few minutes. No more true than most of us would consider fairy tales to be. Do horoscopes really predict the future? Does the day or year we are born really determine our future personalities?
Personally, I have never really believed in horoscopes. Sure, I would occasionally looks at mine, just to see what is “supposed” to happen to me that month and laugh at the often seemingly improbable events it suggests. How could the aligning of planets possibly affect one’s future? The paths of planets are regular, so does that mean the fact that the horoscope suggests that “you will achieve a lifelong goal this month” has been planned for millennia? So how could it possible happen at just the right time to be considered correct? It all just seems so inexact to me. Despite the near fatal flaws in the horoscopes, there have been occasions where it somehow predicts my personality correctly. Not just a few true things here and there, but dead on… so exact that it seems almost uncanny. These instances might shake (or more like quiver slightly) my firmly accepted belief that horoscopes are a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, but never enough to have me religiously checking them every day. In the end, science prevails for me. I just can’t accept that something as vague and distant as the stars and planets can affect my destiny. My fate is chosen by me and only me.
