Blessed

Everyday I wake up. Get ready. Eat. Drive to school. Learn. Run. Go home. But I never stop to realize the simplest things I am blessed with. So many Americans are sent into the hospital everyday for sicknesses such as obesity and cancer.

Recently, I watched a video (Nick Vujicic - DVD Clip from No Arms, No Legs, No Worries - Jr. High Talk ) about Nick Vujicic. This man does not have any limbs; arms or legs. Vujicic's story was extremely inspiring to me and made me stop and think how lucky I am to have legs and arms. How lucky I am to be able to run with my legs. And write with my hands. And even lift things with my arms. The simplest things I take for granted, Nick Vujicic is not able to do for the rest of his life.

It is hard to think how lucky I am compared to most Americans when I am living my life. Especially in this Johns Creek bubble. Everything I think about these days is what I need to be better than others. To have a better car than he does. Or have a new in-style fashion item that she has. Or have the new iPhone that he has. But outside this Johns Creek bubble, most people are wishing for another kidney to live. Or a leg so he or she can fit in with the rest of society.

Each in everyday, since I saw the video on Nick Vujicic, I am grateful for everything I have. I am grateful I have a shelter and food and clean water and clothes and a loving family and friends and a healthy body with all my limbs.

I know it is hard to think of these things when everyone is perfectly healthy in the life around you. But in the blink of an eye, your life could be turned upside down. You could get in a car accident and have to learn how to walk and talk again. Or have a kidney failure and have to wait in the hospital for a new kidney.

These accidents are hard to think of, but anything can happen. Everything happens for a reason. Be thankful for everything you have while you have them. Life everyday like it's your last because you are blessed.
