I Don't Know Where I was Going With That...

Shauna Shahangian

I'm tired. I'm sick. And this blog is the last thing I want to be doing right now. I don't even really know what I plan on talking about; I'm just hoping after typing for a while something will come to me.

So far, It's not working...

Alright, why don't I do what I'm best at: complaining. Like I said, I'm not feeling so hot and my day has not quite gone swimmingly, but I'm going to pretend I feel just peachy because it's Halloween. And on this day, there are certain things you should do, but the most important one is to be something you're not. And here's where I'm going to go all kinds of deep on you. Prepare for some serious wisdom children.

We spend so much time complaining about our lives, but if you were to take a good look at the things that so inconvenience us-and by us I mean Johns Creek High School students-, you would realize how trivial these matters are.Now before all five of you who actually read this get your panties in a wad, I'll say that not all issues we have are trivial, but I'm willing to bet a good 70% are. Wondering where this awkward tangent is headed? So am I. What was I talking about?

Oh! Halloween wisdom. So here goes, we all have skeletons in our closets (See what I did with the Halloween theme there?Clever, I know.), but Halloween is a great excuse to get out of our own heads and be someone completely different. It's also an excuse for girls to dress in otherwise unacceptably provocative clothing and for kids to rot their teeth with candy, but that's besides the point. Speaking of the point, so many people don't understand the point of Halloween. Is it a holiday or not? If we don't know what we're celebrating, why do we do anything at all? Part of this is explained by the fact that any holiday gives Americans an excuse to overeat and for stores to sell a crap ton of useless items, But I honestly believe that part of the reason we keep this tradition alive is because we enjoy the escape being someone else provides. They say, "The grass is always greener on the other side." And if for one night a year we are able to see that green, who's to tell us to stop?
