One of my biggest problems of my
life dictates my every day routine. Procrastination. Even with the urges and pleas
of my family and friends not to procrastinate, I still do it. Though I want this
problem to be fixed, my procrastination is not that simple to do so. Not only does
my lack of time management skills affects my routine, but also my natural
tendency to be lazy and relaxed before my deadline alarm rings.
Procrastination is like a maze.
Once you step into one, it will be difficult to get out. Even if you did escape,
there is a high percentage of diving straight into another one. My
procrastination begins when I slack off a week or even a few days. I usually
will wait until the night before or even the morning of to do the assignment.
There are several days where I am determine to go straight home and finish my
homework right away and work on assignments not due for a while to get a head
start. However almost every single time, I have something I must complete
because of the procrastination done earlier. When I have leisure time, I do not
catch up on my work because I know there is still tomorrow to complete it. It
is not like I do not try to create a schedule for myself; it is just the fact
that I cannot follow my own schedule and make myself work ahead of deadlines. Working
on assignments prior to the due dates feels foreign and unnatural to me.
My procrastination has reached the
point where it is affecting my health. Although I am use to it, I do not get
the amount of sleep that normal teens should be getting. Due to the increasing
workload from school, procrastination, and my extracurricular classes, the
number of hours I sleep is decreasing every year. For example, the current time
that I am writing this blog is 5 am. By the time I am complete with this blog,
I will mostly likely only have an hour to an hour and a half to sleep. Whether
it is during the weekday or the weekend, even six hours of sleep is rare and a
blessing. Procrastination is a huge issue that I need to fix before it becomes
worse.
