Organize.

I have recently become aware of the importance of organization. Over the past years, I was naïve and did not value a clean space to return home to after a busy day. I always kept my room messy for various reasons—time, tiredness, habit, the excuses were endless. However, for my birthday my parents present to me was a room makeover, and I wanted to demonstrate my appreciation by keeping my room neat and orderly.

The easiest place to start, was making my bed everyday. Since my room was redone, I've made my bed everyday and it has made a tremendous difference in the neatness of my room. Because a bed is the focal point of a bedroom, this simple task can make a messy room appear orderly. And, in contrast, it can make a clean room appear disorderly. By taking the 30 seconds to make your bed in the morning, you will find that the room appears nicer and neater.

The next step to my reorganization process was keeping my desk neat. This has been much more difficult for me than simply making the bed. I study at my desk for various subjects over a long time and it is very easy to accumulate a lot of stuff. Despite the difficulty I find in keeping my desk orderly, it also has critical importance. If I do not organize my desk, it becomes easy to leave papers at home and compromise my ability to focus because of the abundance of clutter. When you are extremely busy studying and have stayed up late doing homework, it becomes so easy to decide not to clean your desk. Even though, the thought of climbing in to your bed after a long night of hard work is tempting, it is important to clean up your desk and pack your bag for the next morning. I have found nothing worse than waking up from a sleepless night, and having to worry about putting your homework in your bag.

I could go on and on about keeping a room organized, but I will close with this: since organization my room, and myself, I am less stressed and have found myself capable of handling any task. I hope that others will learn the value of organization, so they can experience similar emotions to mine.
