Wawrzynski, had been trying to get in touch with his son,
Mitch Comer, since Mitch and his mother ran away when Mitch was only three.
Wawrzynski was upset when he came home that day when his wife and son had left,
but he never imagined the torture his son would be going through. 18 year old
Mitch Comer was locked in his home, deprived of food and love and then just abandoned
by his mother and stepfather. They had been abusing and starving him, and as
soon as he turned 18 they sent him on a bus to Los Angeles. When Wawrzynski was
contacted by the police, he was devastated to hear that his 18 year old son was
found wandering the streets weighing only 87 pounds and all the life beat out
of him.
Mitch doesn't even remember his father since he was only
three years old when they left. He doesn’t remember any happy times; he only
remembers the horrible struggles and torture from his recent years. He was
deprived of his childhood. He didn't get any of the necessities we take for
granted. We complain about having to go to school all day and get mad at our
parents for them loving and protecting us. Mitch didn't get the opportunity to
get an education. His mother didn't show him love.
We are all guilty of complaining about being too busy and
having too much work. But we should be grateful to have such wonderful, privileged
lives. I would definitely much rather be
busy doing schoolwork and chores all day than to be locked in my room without
food or outside contact. It is important for us to remember what struggles
others go through and how easy most of us really have it.
