education

I think as students living in Georgia we all know that the Georgia education system isn’t the best and is actually at the bottom of the pool compared to other states. However, recent statistic shows light. There have been great improvements in major standard test grades in public schools in Georgia. Georgia is the only to state to have improved in all the tests surveyed which is remarkable when considering Georgia’s current place in the country’s education system rank.
The charter school amendment has been a controversial issue. This amendment proposes that traditional public school system needs innovation (meaning to replace public schools with charter schools).  This amendment disparages the whole public school system for its inabilities.
However, is this really necessary when clear statistics demonstrate the public school’s progress? The whole point of building charter schools is to “improve student achievements,” but achievements have been improving anyways. Sure, if built, these new fancy charter schools will have nice attributes like building more fit for learning and better certified teachers and what not, but I’m scared for the cost and the potential “rivalries” that might sprout from this. Imagine how chaotic it would be if there is a conflict between the local and state governments? Also,  how incompetent will the state and the people look if such a ridiculous amendment is passed?
I personally think that just proposing of the amendment of the ballet is an insult to the State of Georgia and just straight up uncalled for. My solution for those who proposed and currently supports the amendment is that they should support the public school system and encourage the students directly.
