School Bullying

Everyone has been a victim of bullying some time in their life, and whether you believe it or not, school has become the most frequent location where bullying and taunting occur.  Kids from all over the nation are suffering from the ridicule of their so called peers. Bullying has caused many lasting problems in families all over the world including the Bermudez-Carrasquillo family. This family has suffered the loss of their eleven year old son who committed suicide because he was a victim of bullying; his sister was later found out to be a victim as well. The mother, Masika, has contacted Obama for help in her campaign to end school bullying to prevent future suicides and heart break in many families.

Masika of Atlanta, Georgia has started a campaign in the attempt to end bullying in all schools; she has contacted the President to help spread the word of her campaign and potentially end bullying across the nation. Both of her children were victims in school bullying which led to end of her son, Jaheem, life and quite possibly the daughters' life as well. Jaheem went to a school in Dekalb county where he was tortured almost every single day he went to school. He once even passed out from kids putting him in a sleeper hold at the school. The loss of Masika's son has taken a toll on her in order for her to change the way kids treat other students during school. She has taken her campaign from the Georgia suburbs to the White House just for her son and the justice that he deserves. Bermudez wrote a letter to Obama to ask for help in her campaign by saying this...

"Mr. President, bullying is still an issue here in Georgia, and all over the United States. Our children are dying, because they think this is the only way out. I think parents and administrators should be held accountable for the safety problems in the nation's classrooms," Bermudez said.

The President has still not made the decision to help this campaign or not but the mother of these children continues to try harder and harder for the termination of school bullying. This mother is a local Georgia residence trying to make a change not only in the state of Georgia but the entire nation as well. She is working to save many families from the pain that she has felt from one small thing that can be prevented easily.
