Get off your butts!!!
Over the long weekend, I ended up being home alone expecting to finish all of my homework. After two house of intense studying, I figured that I needed a break to relax and possibly grab a snack. As I walked downstairs and into the kitchen, I opened the refrigerator for something to eat, but of course, there was nothing in it. Well, it wasn't completely empty; it was just filled with random junks. I walked away from it and decided to do something else, and the next thing I know, I was back at the fridge, browsing through it again. Not surprisingly, there was still nothing to eat. It was almost as if I believed that for some magical reason, a plate of my favorite dish or snack was going to appear if I kept searching for it. I kept wandering back to that refrigerator (after about thirteen more attempts) until I finally decided to give up. I finally realized through common sense that the only way to find anything in the refrigerator is to go out and actually get something and put it in there. My actions are familiar to many people, because that is the mentality of most us, except not only with the fridge, but also with our lives.
Many of us are waiting for something to happen. We want to meet interesting people, find new experiences, and obtain things we have always wanted. We wake up every day hoping that for some magical reason, something fortunate will happen out of nowhere, just like that plate of food. We sit here and complain about how we are hungry; we sit here and complain about how boring our lives are and how we wish for this or that to happen. We expect that tomorrow is going to be another chance at opening that fridge of life and maybe that plate of opportunity will appear in front of us for us to take. If we keep ourselves idle, it won't.
We need to get out of our houses and take initiative. Complaining gets us nowhere. Contemplating gets us nowhere. Waiting for tomorrow gets us nowhere.
We all need to get off our butts and make a move.
